Coordinates and directs the development and operations of student programs, university recognized campus organizations and related activities.
To assist in the recruitment and coordination of retention programs for females and traditionally underrepresented student populations to support academic persistence and increase the pipeline of students from these areas.
Job Functions: Produces, coordinates, and implements various departmental programming curriculum and oversee specific departmental educational programs (cultural events, panels, workshops, etc.
).
This would include, but is not limited to, planning, and assessing educational needs as well as evaluating and updating program materials and manuals on an ongoing basis Understands key departmental objectives, frameworks, processes, and procedures and uses this understanding to accomplish/complete educational support projects/initiatives May serve as a liaison with alumni, employers, faculty, staff, trainers, and/or other internal and external constituents for committee work, educational programs, fundraising, and/or networking and employment events such as Night to Network, Networking Skills, panels, etc.
Coordinate, plan, and facilitate summer high school outreach programs.
Represent Strategic Diversity Initiatives at campus and off-campus events and serve on inter-campus committees as assigned Charged with engaging the student populations, gathering feedback for events and programs that will benefit student populations.
Serve as an advisor for student organizations that are supported by the department including the National Society of Black Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, Spectrum, etc Build collaborative relationships and programmatic partnerships with other program level professional staff across campus.
This includes programming collaborations as well as relevant committee work Provide training to campus populations (faculty, staff, & students) on diversity, equity, and inclusion subjects Collaboratively manage food pantry, clothes closet, and the upkeep of the diversity house, patio, student center and basement with other staff members Serves as a support person and/or mediator in the equity resolution process and attends equity and Title IX training annually Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications Possesses conceptual knowledge of theories, practices, and procedures of adult training methods and programing Possess knowledge of theories, frameworks, and history pertaining to civil rights, intersecting identities, and intercultural development Good oral and written communication skills Ability to handle sensitive issues Ability to develop, plan, implement, and recruit students for outreach programs Comments We value the uniqueness of every individual and strive to ensure each person’s success.
