Position: Shift Supervisor
Reports To: Production Manager
Position Summary:
Responsible for overseeing manufacturing processes by managing staff on the production floor and coordinating resources to maximize utilization consistent with safety, quality and cost standards.
The qualified candidate will be an excellent multi-tasker and should have previous experience coaching and motivating employees in a production environment.
Attending production meetings, creating and executing action plans to meet critical metrics, troubleshooting equipment concerns on the fly, developing relationships with employees, influencing change, and growing technically and as a leader are all elements of this great opportunity.
Essential duties and Responsibilities: Include but are not limited to the following.
Leads team of 35+ hourly associates with varying levels of experience and education; develops and coaches individuals and the team to solve operational issues; motivates the team to achieve performance goals
Responsible for area-specific production process management and improvement activities including identification and communication of opportunity areas, meeting daily production goals, and identification and execution of planned improvements
Knows, understands, communicate and facilities a safe work culture, ensuring compliance with all company safety/environmental and housekeeping policies
Recommend major process or procedure changes and improvements to Production
Manager and implement agreed changes
Monitor employee performance to assure that quality and production standards are met and assists in completing performance reviews
Complete reports for review and analysis of operating conditions
Monitor production process; taking corrective measures if needed
Ensure workers are trained to adequately perform assigned tasks and equipment
Encourage and aide in the development of employees
Skills and Core Competencies:
Three to five years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
Experience in the packaging and /or pulp and paper industry is preferred
Experience with automation is preferred
Strong interpersonal skills and team orientation; technical and problem solving skills
Demonstrated leadership and change management skills
Proven Continuous Improvement experience (CI)
Firm understanding of safety regulations including OSHA, SARA, and HAZWOPER
Ability to complete written and verbal reports legibly and accurately
