Mercy Hospital Washington Department: RN- Newborn Nursery Status: PRN Shift: Varies ***MUST have NEWBORN NURSERY Experience*** #BeAMercyNurse Incentives: Shift Differentials Incentive Shifts available after the first 12 hours worked each pay period Overview: We are a 18 bed unit that delivers care to a wide range of patients.
All housed on 1 unit, Labor patients are taken care of in 1 of the 8 LDRP rooms.
Right down the hall is 8 Postpartum/Post-op rooms that can be used for Mom/Baby Couplet care, post-op C-Sections and Post-op Gyn surgical patients.
A Well-Newborn Nursery and a Level II Special Care Nursery on the Unit make sure the tiniest of patients are well cared for.
Mercy Childbirth Center offers nursing care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for women in labor, postpartum care of vaginal and cesarean section births, birth recovery, antepartum testing/observation, as well as triage of obstetrical patients.
The services provided range from uncomplicated vaginal births to emergent operative birth, including antepartum and labor management of those with complications including gestational hypertension, diabetes, premature rupture of membranes, preterm labor, placenta previa, cervical insufficiency, pyelonephritis, miscarriage and fetal demise.
High risk maternity cases, requiring tertiary care, are evaluated and treated individually.
Transfer to a tertiary care facility is facilitated if deemed necessary by the attending obstetrician.
The unit also cares for post-op surgical patients that have undergone gynecological procedures.
We are a high-energy unit that utilizes, RN's and OB Scrub Techs.
We allow nurses to cross-train to different areas on our Unit.
Qualifications: Education: Graduate of an accredited registered professional nursing program Licensure: Is personally responsible for obtaining, and maintaining, a current RN license within the hiring state and/or compact licensure in which nursing duties are performed and must meet all state board of nursing requirements.
Experience: Newborn Nursery Experience Required Physical requirements/demands: Position requires individuals to push, pull, and/or lift 50 pounds on a regular basis.
Position requires prolonged standing and walking each shift.
Position requires the ability to grip, reach, bend, kneel, twist, and squat to perform duties Certifications: BLS (Basic Life Support) or successful completion of course within 30 days of hire Other unit specific certifications as required or acquisition of certification within department required timeframe.
