Position Title Director of Marketing

Classification Summary
Incumbent provides leadership in planning and implementing strategic marketing and public relations programs.
Responsibilities may include: overseeing operation of college communication and marketing platforms; overseeing all operational aspects of graphics and visual divisions; developing department budget; planning comprehensive campaigns for College courses, programs, and services; serving as media relations representative to contact news media; and providing counsel and issuing advocacy.
Minimum Education and/or Training and Experience Bachelor’s degree in related field and five years of experience in marketing, public relations, advertising, journalism, or communications or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Education and/or Training and Experience Master’s degree in related field Licensing Requirements Essential Job Function These are the job duties that are required of the position.
Classification Duties 1.
Oversee operational aspects of marketing and communications department.
Plan, recommend and implement policies and procedures as necessary.
(D6) 2.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, develop Marketing and Communications department budget, approve expenditures, and monitor budget progression throughout the fiscal year.
(D6) 3.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, develop Marketing and Communications annual strategic marketing plan aligned with the College’s strategic plan, and monitor the plan progression throughout the fiscal year.
(D6) 4.
Coordinate institutional marketing and advertising efforts for college credit classes, continuing education courses and other related programs and services.
(D6) 5.
Write and distribute news releases to appropriate media sources.
Serve as media relations representative to cultivate media relationships, routinely inform news media of institutional developments, events, programs, etc.
(C4) 6.
Serve as writer, editor and production coordinator for all College newsletters.
Maintain database/mailing list of community members who received the each newsletter.
Write announcements, letters, and speeches on behalf of College president and administration.
(C4) 7.
Provide leadership and vision to oversee operation of College website, institutional social media platforms, and digital marketing campaigns.
Promote use of social media platforms by College departments and employees; oversee staff training and monitor employee activity as necessary.
(C4) 8.
Write, edit, produce, secure guests, and serve as host on radio programs to promote college services and programs to the community.
(C4) 9.
Contribute to institutional committees as directed.
(C4) 10.
Supervise, direct and evaluate media specialist, graphic designer, senior graphic designer, and webmaster-digital marketing coordinator.
Employ, supervise, and direct student workers.
