General Summary
Reporting to the AVP of Strategic Communications, Learning and Outreach, the Director of Marketing Strategy is an advanced, senior-level marketing role responsible for planning, developing and implementing marketing strategy and communication activities for Phelps Health and its affiliate organizations.
This position will be responsible for monitoring and measuring the effectiveness of marketing strategies and tactics designed to grow volume, improve reputation and brand awareness, and advance strategic business objectives throughout Phelps Health and its affiliates.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Development, execution and reporting of an annual strategic marketing plan inclusive of market research, marketing campaigns and successful advertising and public relations efforts.
Responsible for overseeing management of all branding, marketing and advertising for Phelps Health and its affiliates.
Responsible for articulating Phelps Health desired image and position, and assures consistent communication of image and position throughout Phelps Health and other internal and external constituencies.
Responsible for managing and coordinating media interest in Phelps Health, and ensures regular contact with target media.
Serves as Phelps Health representative with the media and provides appropriate responses to media requests.
Responsible for managing Marketing department staff to include responsibilities for coaching, performance management, and staff development.
Job Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, business, or an equivalent field required.
Master’s degree in marketing, communications, business and/or healthcare preferred.
In lieu of a Master’s Degree, applicants with an equivalent certification, such as an APR, digital marketing, CRM or SEO will be prioritized.
Work Experience
A minimum of 10 years progressively more responsible experience in marketing, communications and/or business required.
A minimum of 5 years of leadership experience is required.
A minimum of 5 years of change management experience is preferred.

Mental/Physical Requirements
Independent body mobility to access a standard office environment with shelves and drawers of varying heights; vision sufficient to read a computer screen, 12 point and finer printed text and hand written documents, manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard on a daily basis; stamina to sit for up to one hour at a time; transport, lift or carry materials (sometimes voluminous and weighing up to 15 pounds) ; and speak and hear sufficiently to communicate clearly in person and over the telephone.
Mental stamina for problem solving and dealing with stressful situations; prioritizing multiple tasks, interpret and apply oral/written instructions.
Some travel required.
Working Conditions
Standard office environment but will also work throughout the hospital and with many community partners and vendors
