Summary/Objective
Perform planting, cultivation, growing, harvesting and distribution of seedlings to the public.
Essential Job Duties
Perform assigned duties associated with the planting, cultivation, harvesting and distribution of seedling trees including processing, inventory, and load/unloading seedlings.
Weeding seedbeds during the growing season.
Operate specialized equipment to plant, cultivate, harvest and distribute trees including using forklifts, tractors, pallet loaders, seed planters, seed cleaning equipment, etc.
Irrigate planting beds and apply chemicals including pesticides, fungicides and herbicides as directed to achieve a high-quality seedling.
Perform lifting and tree grading.
Assist with irrigation installation.
Package seedling orders for distribution.
Assist with tours of the nursery to the public.
Maintain a safe and clean nursery environment.
Monitor general supplies.
Conduct area maintenance and cleaning of the area such as parking lots, roads, work areas, and buildings.
Performs mowing, lawn maintenance, boundary marking, hazard tree mitigation, trail maintenance, and debris removal on the Conservation Area.
Conduct general equipment maintenance and repairs.
Prepare and presents reports.
Assist Forest Nursery Crew leader with training/supervising new and seasonal staff.
Assist in wildfire suppression and prescribed burning.
Ability to work with diverse customers.

Ancillary Job Duties
Organize and/or participate in special events and programs, as needed.
Perform administrative duties, such as answering the telephone.
Deliver and pick up seedlings and seed at different locations, both in-state and out of state.
Assists in forest management activities on nursery property such as tree thinning, timber sales, tree planting and removal.
Other duties, as assigned.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent.
Pesticide Applicator’s License preferred.
Must maintain a valid current driver’s license and Class B CDL with air brakes.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to accept all responsibilities of the job and assigned tasks.
Ability to accept change and new information and cope with job pressure and stress.
Ability to operate tools and equipment for land management.
Attention to detail.
Basic plant and animal identification and wildlife habitat knowledge.
Familiarity with nursery equipment.
Work Environment
Frequently work in outdoor weather.
Occasionally exposed to loud noises which may require the use of hearing protection.
Physical Abilities
Move about grounds, both inside and outside of buildings.
Frequently communicate and exchange accurate information.
Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less and 20 feet or more, three-dimensional vision, and precise hand-eye coordination.
Regularly lift up to 50 pounds; correctly lift up to 70 pounds.
Concentrated attention is required at all times.
Regular attendance is a necessary and essential function.
