General Purpose
Provide oversight for location of project engineering, project design, and project installation and commissioning.
Provide engineering guidance to facility plant engineer(s) and maintenance team.
Develop engineering plans to support current and future plant requirements and develop systems in critical areas such as preventative maintenance, spare parts inventories, and work order systems.
Lead or oversee capital and expense projects.
Coordinate engineering projects with leadership, plant team, management, and contractors.
Support maintenance excellence programs and plant maintenance departments including preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs, and work request management.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Coordinate with plant leadership to complete current and long-term project engineering objectives in accordance with company engineering standards
Manage expense and capital projects as required.
This may include labor, repairs, and maintenance expenses and outside contractor services
Facilitate equipment and facility design or renovation, company goals and objectives of capacity, productivity, and efficiency
Develop, organize, and maintain engineering specifications/standards and process equipment operational parameters to ensure process stability while maximizing yield, productivity and efficiencies
Provide guidance and support to maintain facility operating systems to achieve optimum manufacturing process efficiencies
Continually strive to reduce facility and manufacturing operating costs by providing best option technical solutions and/or utilizing best method analyses towards improving internal systems
Utilize best practices across locations to drive continuous improvement for equipment reliability and maintenance department cost controls
Support plant leadership to define facilities' budgetary needs for capital and maintenance expense accounts with changing volumes
Support plant leadership to accomplish maintenance and engineering tasks within budgetary constraints
Develop and execute action plans associated with projects, production needs, and regulatory compliance
Develop and execute action plans based on root cause analysis
Train others to keep pace with the latest technology
Provide assistance to plant maintenance manager and technicians in monitoring, managing, and supporting plant wastewater treatment facility
Assist with ensuring that plant meets customer requirements
Ensure all plant environmental policies and procedures reflect current DFA guidelines and regulatory requirements and proper reporting is completed
Follow all DFA good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in a manner consistent with all corporate regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements

Requirements:
Education and Experience
Undergraduate degree in engineering or related curriculum or technical training in related mechanical or electrical studies (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
8 or more years of progressive engineering, maintenance, or related experience in a food manufacturing environment that includes team or project leadership experience, environmental compliance experience, PLC programming, and capital project and budget management experience
Certification and/or License – may be required during course of employment
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of federal, state, and local environmental regulations regarding waste, air, wastewater, land application, and storm water
Knowledge of safety related issues, including regulation compliance
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems
Skill in critical thinking, analysis, mathematical calculations, and statistical evaluations
Able to consider both strategic and practical implications for proposed course of action
Able to manage multiple projects and participate in cross-functional environment
Able to communicate and translate complex technical topics into easy to understand concepts
Able to establish effective relationships and independently manage those relations with all levels of internal staff and external customers, business partners, and vendors
Able to take appropriate steps to find solutions to complex problems
Able to handle challenging or conflict situations with tact and professionalism
Able to adapt and manage to change effectively
Must be able to read, write and speak English
