A tax specialist is responsible for supporting an organization's tax compliance efforts, which includes tax preparation, filing, reconciliation, and reporting.
They work closely with the finance and accounting teams to ensure accurate and timely submission of tax returns while minimizing tax liabilities.
RESPONSIBILITIES BY COMPETENCY: (*denotes an essential function of the position)

• Prepare and file various tax returns, such as excise tax, sales tax, property tax, and other applicable taxes, ensuring accuracy and compliance with tax laws and regulations.
• Keep up-to-date with changes in tax laws and regulations to ensure the organization's compliance and to identify opportunities for tax savings.
• Conduct research on complex tax issues, interpret tax laws, rulings, and regulations, and provide guidance to the organization based on findings.
• Analyze financial data to assess the impact of taxes on the organization's financial performance.
• Reconcile associated tax general ledger accounts.

•Maintain accurate records of excise tax transactions, payments, and relevant documentation.
•Prepare and file regular excise tax reports and returns in a timely and accurate manner.

Education: *Required: Associate’s Degree in business, accounting or related field or equivalent work experience
Preferred: Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, taxation, or a related field
Experience: Minimum 1 year experience in tax compliance, accounting or related field.
Language Skills: *Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English in a manner that is
sufficient for effective communication with groups of managers, clients,
customers and the general public.
