We are currently seeking a Social Studies Teacher at Washington Middle School for 2024/2025 School Year.
This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.

POSITION SUMMARY (Primary purpose of job) Teachers are responsible for providing direct instruction to students and maintaining an environment conducive to learning.
SPHERE AND SCOPE OF INFLUENCE (Supervisory scope, district impact and budgetary responsibility) Teachers are responsible for supervising students, implementation of the District curriculum and assessment plan, and utilizing resources accordingly.
Input and collaboration toward these efforts is critical as well as communicating with parents, patrons, and other stakeholders to advance the District vision, mission, and goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES (Major duties which the position exists to perform) Provide instruction that cognitively engages all students, increases critical thinking and problem solving skills, and assess learning to guide instruction.
Build and maintain secure relationships with students as well as maintaining professional relationships with colleagues, parents, and patrons.
Maintain accurate records in accordance with timelines including individual student records, classroom records, content area reports, grade level reports, and building/department records.
Actively engage as a member of a team including but not limited to, student teams, grade level or department teams, focus groups, curriculum teams, PLCs, and/or other building and District teams.
Report suspected abuse, neglect, discrimination, harassment, etc.
as directed by Board Policy and otherwise required by law.
Other duties as directed by the supervisor.
Regular and reliable attendance as it aligns to the scope of this position.
OTHER DUTIES (duties which the incumbent can be expected to perform) Additional duties necessary to supervise students, monitor events, or assist in an emergency situation.
Attend building events such as open houses, curriculum night, informational meetings, and events designed to bring the public into the District.
Occasional or sporadic duties such as taking tickets at an event, participating on an interview committee, covering a duty of a colleague, engaging in curriculum and/or instructional resource committees, attending staff meetings and/or student meetings such as IEPs, etc.
Participate in professional development activities and/or curriculum work outside of the typical school work day and/or school calendar.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES Supervise students at all times and/or as directed by supervisor Supervise events as described above and/or directed by supervisor QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS (Minimum educational requirements, licenses, skills and experience required as well as preferred options) Bachelor degree or higher Valid Missouri teaching certification appropriate to the level and subject matter DISTRICT EXPECTATIONS All employees of the District are expected to adhere to the policies and regulations of the Board of Education, maintain appropriate certification and competencies necessary for the position, complete required training annually, and demonstrate the values of the District at all times.
