JOB SUMMARY: Under the direction of the School Readiness Coordinator, ensures that teachers and family coaches are getting the direction needed to successfully implement the assigned curriculum and practices which promote high quality learning and school readiness.
SCOPE OF WORK: Curriculum development and Implementation: Under the guidance of the School Readiness Coordinator, works to support both center-based and home based curriculum models in accordance with federal standards.
Ensure fidelity of curriculum implementation through review and analysis of data collection (PQA, CLASS, HOVRS); provide feedback and support for staff as necessary.
Utilize PQA, CLASS, and COR data to support teachers in developing skills necessary to implement appropriate teaching strategies.
Utilize HOVRS and COR data to support family coaches in developing skills necessary to implement appropriate coaching strategies when working with families.
Provide curriculum training for newly hired staff as well as ongoing training.
Provides resources and tools to support staff in implementation of specific curriculum practices and strategies.
Practice Based Coaching: Facilitates both individualized and peer-to-peer learning in one-on-one and group settings to support staff in building skills and competence.
Supports the professional development of all staff by delivering coaching and technical assistance.
Training: Provides curriculum training to staff for both home based and center curriculum models.
Present at local and state conferences in the areas of curriculum and assessment.
Provide additional on-site support for collaboration sites in the areas of child development, curriculum, and assessment.
Disabilities and Wellness: Works with staff to ensure all necessary accommodations and adaptations are made for children with an identified disability.
Attends IEP and IFSP meetings as requested.
Ensures the maintenance of required program record keeping per HSPPS.
Maintain a general knowledge of the Head Start Performance Standards and complies with the standards.
Provides tools to support staff in implementation of social-emotional curriculum, and assists in conducting health and developmental screenings as necessary.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's Degree or higher in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, or a closely related field with a minimum of 18 ECE courses.
Work experience in early childhood preferred.
Experience working with low-income families, child care, health or education preferred.
OTHER REQUIRED CAPABILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS: Able to problem solve, handle crisis, and work with families and children of various cultures and low-income backgrounds.
Able to establish positive working relationships with families, agency staff, and community members.
Physically able to stand for long periods of time, as well as stooping, squatting, running, and lift an estimated 50 pounds.
Must have an active driver's license and will be required to travel in or out of community with own transportation.
Advanced computer skills.
